Motorpoint Marshalls Pasta rider Ed Clancy has won the elite national criterium title, after outsprinting Ian Wilkinson (Endura) and Motorpoint-Marshalls Pasta teammate Jonny McEvoy on the cobbled finishing straight in the Yorkshire town of Beverley.

"It's great, I went from a long way out and Ian didn't have time to come around me," Clancy said. "It's a brilliant night for the team too, with Jonny on the podium."

Clancy also paid tribute to the work of his veteran teammate Malcolm Elliott: "I really felt the pressure having him lead me out. He made my life really easy in that race, I didn't have to stick my nose in the wind for the last half."

That's 2 years in a row that a Marshalls Pasta rider has won the championship, following Russ Downing's victory in the 2009 race.

Ian Bibby took 2nd place in a tough windy East Yorkshire Classic on Sunday, 8 seconds behind Dave Clarke of Pendragon-Le Col-Colnago.

Jonny McEvoy and James Sampson were also placed in the top 10, finishing 7th and 10th respectively.

Afterwards, Ian said "Coming into the finish, I got the sprint for second but it is disappointing. Clarky was really strong today and constantly off the front. He deserves it, definitely".

Congratulations to Chris Newton of Rapha Condor Sharp, who in coming in 4th, tied up the overall victory in the 2010 Premier Calendar Series.
