It's been a turbulent week for the Marshalls Pasta boys, losing the leaders' shirts in Peterborough on Tuesday, but regaining the top spot in Stoke.
Tuesday in Peterborough saw Rapha - Condor - Sharp move into the lead after they claimed the team win on the night, and Dean Downing taking the individual prize. Malcolm Elliott was the highest paced Marshalls rider, finishing 3rd, and the team took the 3rd place on the night, leaving them 2nd in the overall standings.
Thursday night however saw the situation reversed, with Ian Bibby taking his 2nd win of the Tour Series, and the team putting in an excellent performance that saw them place four riders in the top eight positions. Motorpoint-Marshalls Pasta now hold a three point lead with just two rounds to go, while Rapha-Condor-Sharp had a night to forget, finishing the night in fourth position.
Malcolm Elliott afterwards said, "The pressure was on tonight and we've been feeling that pressure the last few races since Portsmouth when team wise, things went especially well. We had a good lead and since then it has felt like the tide has been against us and bit by bit the feet were getting wet and then it was coming up to our waist but now it feels like its going back out again. We have stemmed the flow and mentally, it is a great result."
This week is a tough one for the Marshalls Pasta boys with the last 2 rounds of the Tour Series, in Chester on Tuesday and Woking on Thursday, and the Subaru Insured Elite Circuit race at Otley Cycle Races sandwiched between them on Wednesday 23rd June. And don't forget, the boys will be racing in the first of the Nocturne Series, at Smithfield in London tomorrow night.
Tour Series highlights can be seen on ITV4 at 7pm on Wednesdays and Fridays.
