Marshalls rider Hannah Barnes made it a British Championship double for Motorpoint-Marshalls Pasta at Preston, winning the Women's National Circuit Race Championship. The Marshalls team now contains both the men's (Ed Clancy) and women's national champions!
The 17 year old rider kept her cool in the company of Joanna Rowsell, Corinne Hall and Kara Chesworth as the four of them battled for the three medals on offer on the tight town centre circuit based around Preston Market.
Going into the finish in the covered Victorian Market in Preston, Rowsell and Hall had no answer to Hannah Barnes sprint and she took victory with enough time to milk the applause from the Preston crowd. A superb win for this very talented young woman.
Hot prospect Joshua Edmondson finshed an amazing fourth place in the Junior World Championships in Offida, Italy at the weekend.
After having played a patient waiting game in temperatures of over 30°C, Edmondson was in a small group sprinting for second place only three seconds behind the winner from France, Olivier Le Gac.
It was another great result for the Marshalls Pasta rider, who started the year winning the Eddie Soens Classic and also has the feted Isle of Man Youth Tour (Junior category) victory on his list of achievements.
"He was over the moon today with his fourth place," said GB sports director, Keith Reynolds.
